Data Privacy Statement
We take the matter of protecting the personal data of our users very seriously and strictly adhere to the relevant provisions of data protection legislation (such as TMG; BDSG). Similarly, all data collected is protected to the very best of our ability by the technological and organizational measures put in place in our IT security and privacy policies. As a matter of principle, your data is not forwarded to third parties. Exceptions to this rule shall apply solely in the case of statutory or legal requirements, or when you have specifically approved such forwarding of data, or have expressed a wish for this to be done.
This statement provides you with an overview of the measure designed to assure such protection, together with an outline of the type of data collected and the purposes for which this is used.
I. Automatic data processing on this internet page
When you access internet pages, the information transferred to us by your browser is automatically stored in our "server log files". This includes:
- Browsertype/ -version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL (the page last visited)
- Host name of the computer accessing the site (IP address)
- Time of the server enquiry
The technology used is such that we are unable to assign such data to specific persons. No attempt is made to link this data to other data sources (e.g. any registration data that may exist), and data is, following a statistical evaluation, deleted and not retained as an individual data record set.
II. Services requiring log-in - newsletters, etc.
If you would like to access the (personalized and/or paid content) services offered on the website, we may, in order to provide this service and for billing purposes, require further information from you.
Most notably, this shall include your name, your (valid) email address, and further particulars (Company, telephone number, etc.), which enable us to check that you are, for example, the owner of the email address provided, or that the owner thereof agrees to receive the relevant services, in order to be able to supply the desired services and, finally, in order to render accounts and serve invoices in the due manner.
Entry of a valid email address is required in order for us to prevent misuse of registration procedures - in the case of newsletters, for example. We therefore rely on the so-called. "double opt-in" process, in which you are sent, after entering your email address on our websites, a so-called confirm mail to act as authentication of your registration, and as part of which you are, by clicking a corresponding link, required to verify your email address.
The data in question is so-called personal ("person-linked”) data, i.e. data that can be used to establish your identity. As a matter of principle, however, you are able to use our free internet services without having to reveal your identity in either full or in part.
Additionally, you may, when signing up/logging in to our services, provide us with further information - going beyond that required for the rendering of the service (such as sector, occupational group, age, etc.) - on a voluntary basis by entering this in the appropriate fields or boxes. Such data is used by us to align services more closely to the needs of users, for product information and advertising purposes, and also for customer relations purposes. As a matter of principle, data is not forwarded to third parties (cf. above).
When registering through social networks, data will be exchanged between expocheck and the particular social network used. You will find more information on the use of your data by social networks in chapter 3 (links to social media).

Social Media Plugins
Plug-ins provided by the social network Facebook are integrated at this website; these are operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. The Facebook plug-ins are among other things discernible by way of the Facebook-logo or the "Like" icon (German: "Gefällt mir"). Visit https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/ for an overview of the Facebook plug-ins. These social plug-ins are interface buttons, icons and messages used by the website to enable visitors to the website to make other Facebook users aware of the website contents. If you are registered with Facebook and visit a website with the "Like" icon, your browser will send information to Facebook about your visit. The browser will transmit information about the inquiry to load Facebook contents to this web page. The data transmitted to Facebook includes your user ID, the website visited, the date and time of day as well as other browser-related information. Facebook will file some of this information in order to be able to provide the user with a customized user experience at this website and to improve their own products. If you have unregistered from Facebook or do not have a Facebook user account and visit a website with a "Like" icon or with any other social media plug-in, your browser will send less information to Facebook. If you are not registered at Facebook, there will be fewer cookies set than after being registered with Facebook. Similar to other websites, Facebook will also store data about the websites you visited, date and time of day as well as other browser-related data. Facebook files this information to improve its own products. You will find more information about Facebook plug-ins at https://www.facebook.com/help/443483272359009. More information from Facebook on data transfer through plug-ins is available at https://www.facebook.com/help/186325668085084. Facebook's data-protection guidelines may be found at https://www.facebook.com/policy. We have no influence on the scope and extent of data acquired by Facebook with the help of these plug-ins.
Our website features programs (plug-ins) of the social network XING. These are operated exclusively by XING AG, Gänsemarkt 43, 20354 Hamburg. When opening a web page with the XING-Share button, the user's browser temporarily sets up a link to XING AG's servers. XING will not store any of the user's personal data based on visiting this page. XING will specifically not store any IP addresses, and there is also no analysis of user conduct by installing cookies in context with the XING-Share button. Users may learn more about the purpose and extent of data collection as well as further processing and use of data by XING as well as their rights pertaining thereto and setting options to protect their privacy by reading the data-privacy policies https://www.xing.com/privacy von XING.
This feature utilizes the "+1? icon and the "follow" icon of the social network Google Plus, which is operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States ("Google"). The icons are discernible by the character “+1? on white or colored background and/or a "g+" icon, in conjunction with the word "Folgen/follow". Whenever a user visits a web page in this program featuring such an icon, the browser will establish a direct link to the Google servers. The content of the icon is transmitted by Google directly to user's browser and is integrated by this browser into the web page. We therefore have no influence on the extent of data Google collects with the icon. According to Google, no personal data is collected if the icon is not clicked. This data, including IP address, is collected and processed only from logged-in members. Users may learn more about the purpose and extent of data collection as well as further processing and use of data by Google as well as their rights pertaining thereto and setting options to protect their privacy from Google's data-privacy policies applicable to the icons: https://www.google.com/intl/de/+/policy/+1button.html and the FAQ: https://www.google.com/intl/de/+1/button/.

When opening a web page with such a plug-in, your browser will set up a direct link to LinkedIn's servers. The plug-in content will be directly transmitted by LinkedIn to your browser and will be integrated by the browser into the web page. Based on the integration of the plug-ins, LinkedIn will receive the information that you have visited the page at our website.
